George Floyd: Senator Aliero, Emmanuel Bwacha clash over debate on racial killing
The Kebbi lawmaker and a former governor while reacting the motion under order 43, brought before the Senate by the Deputy Minority leader, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, said the issue was too controversial.
He faulted the American Police for the dastard act of killing George Floyd due to racial discrimination, noting that Americans ought to have grown beyond that level since they claimed to be champions of the world’s democracy. He said: “There was a global protest against racism which was ignited by the action of the racist Police in Minneapolis, United States of America.
“We lack the moral capacity to accuse the United States of America and am going to say this. Mr. President, we have a lot to learn from the United States of America. America that claim is the champion of democracy; America that claims is the champion of industrialisation. America that claims is the champion of Western civilisation.“This matter should bleed the heart of any reasonable human being.
Coming through order 43, Senator Adamu Aliero representing Kebbi Central Senatorial district insisted that the minority leader was raising an issue that controversial and not in the best interest of the nation.
