In the New Testament, before Jesus Christ could open the gates into the Holy of Holies, blood needed to be shed.
“And Jacob awoke out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place, and I knew it not. And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is THE GATE OF HEAVEN.” – Genesis 28 verses 16 & 17 It is not easy for a man to open the gate of Heaven, but Jacob did it twice. The second time was when he sent all his family, wives, children, livestock e.t.c. over the river Jabok and travailed throughout the night. In the process, Heaven’s gate opened and an angel came down. He prevailed in his supplication, and the result was that his name was changed from Jacob to Israel. He became a prince.
