Only 21 celebs have ever got their hands on the Glitterball Trophy
Strictly Come Dancing has returned to our screens for its 22nd series. This year another group of 15 celebrities, together with their professional partners, will be aiming to get their hands on the sought-after Glitterball Trophy.
Layton and Nikita received a total score of 119 points out of a possible 120 while Bobby and Dianne bagged 117 points. Ellie and Vito then placed bottom of the final leaderboard having received a total of 115 points. However, Ellie and Vito came out on top in the end following the public vote. The moment was described by judge Anton Du Beke as "the greatest thing I've ever seen on the show" and won the British Academy Television Award for Virgin TV's Must-See Moment in 2022. Rose left Eastenders in 2022 and was nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the 2023 Laurence Olivier Awards for her performance in As You Like It at @sohoplace.
Series 17 – Kelvin Fletcher Actor Kelvin Fletcher and partner Oti Mabuse won the competition in 2019, beating presenter Karim Zeroual and actor Emma Barton in the final. A late addition to the cast, Oldham-raised Kelvin immediately impressed with possibly the greatest opening samba in the history of the show, after being brought in to replace reality TV star Jamie Laing, who had to withdraw with a foot injury.
Series 15 – Joe McFadden Actor Joe McFadden and partner Katya Jones became the 15th winners of Strictly in 2017, the first series with Shirley Ballas as head judge in place of Len Goodman. After lifting the trophy in tears, he called the competition "the most incredible experience of my life". Oduba has gone on to continue presenting TV programmes, including coverage of the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and appear on stage in the UK tour of Grease and is currently on tour with the Rocky Horror Show.
Commenting on her showdance, Darcey Bussell said: "That was like watching a beautiful contemporary ballet for me, and you’d be in my company any day". He and partner Flavia Cacace beat singer Kimberley Walsh and presenter Denise Van Outen in the final, making the most of his athleticism to pull off some impressive moves. He quipped at the end: "'I can finally say I won something in the year 2012!"
Since the show wrapped Judd hit the dancefloor again for Strictly specials in 2012 and 2015, winning the latter with Joanne Clifton. Tointon was already well-known at this point, having played Dawn Swann on EastEnders. Since then, she has appeared in a number of West End shows and in dramas including Lewis, Mr Selfridge and The Halcyon. Kara has recently appeared in The Teacher on Channel 5.
Series 6 – Tom Chambers Actor Tom Chambers won the sixth series of Strictly with partner Camilla Dallerup, marking the pro dancer's final appearance in the competition. They beat model Lisa Snowdon and singer Rachel Stevens in the final after a voting system controversy forced producers to abandon plans to eliminate anyone in the semi-final.
To date, they are the champions boasting the highest average score, despite never quite getting 10s from all the judges. Cutler said of his celebrity partner: "From the beginning I knew I was on to a winner". Ramprakash is one of only 25 cricketers ever to score 100 first-class centuries, going on to become a batting coach for a number of international teams.
