Maureen Ifada, Marketing Director of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, received the Leadership Award in Marketing at the 14th EDGE Awards in Lagos, themed Celebrating Excellence Beyond Borders.
Maureen Ifada, Marketing Director of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, has received the Leadership Award in Marketing at the 2026 EDGE Awards. The award was presented at the 14th edition of the EDGE Awards, organised by MARKETING EDGE in Lagos recently. The ceremony carried the theme Celebrating Excellence Beyond Borders and brought together professionals, brands, agencies and business leaders from Nigeria's marketing communications industry.
The recognition comes shortly after another milestone in her career. In August, she was unveiled in Lagos as one of three African marketing and brand leaders selected for the Africa 2 Class of Black At's 2027 DARE Awards. She was named alongside Mabel Adeteye of Wema Bank and Amaechi Okobi of Access Bank.
Career Growth at FrieslandCampina WAMCO
Ifada joined FrieslandCampina WAMCO in 2003 as a management trainee in the Consumer Marketing Department. Over the years she has held several strategic roles before rising to Marketing Director. Her latest honour adds to more than two decades of experience in the FMCG and marketing sector.
Her work has also extended to the international marketing community. In 2026, she served on judging panels for the SABRE Awards EMEA, the Native Advertising Awards and the International ECHO Awards. Those appointments reflect her standing among marketing professionals beyond Nigeria.
Previous Awards and Industry Recognition
The newest award follows several other recognitions. In 2025, she was named Marketing Director of the Year at the Brand Handlers Awards. She also received the Outstanding Marketing Amazon of the Year award at the EDGE Awards. In addition, she was recognised as Nigeria Marketing Amazon at the Nigeria Marketing Awards.
She has twice featured among WIMCA's Top 50 Most Influential Women in Marketing and Communications. These honours underline a consistent record of achievement in Nigeria's marketing communications sector. The EDGE Awards platform has recognised her work more than once.
EDGE Awards and Marketing Excellence
Speaking at the ceremony, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of MARKETING EDGE, Amos Oladele, said the awards recognise professionals and organisations that challenge convention, embrace new ideas and demonstrate exceptional performance. His remarks framed the evening as a celebration of excellence that reaches beyond national borders.
The 14th edition of the EDGE Awards drew professionals, brands and agencies from across Nigeria's marketing communications industry. The event highlights individuals and organisations shaping the sector through innovation and strong performance. Ifada's recognition places her among the leaders honoured at this year's ceremony.
For Ifada, the Leadership Award in Marketing at the 2026 EDGE Awards adds to a career built over more than two decades in the FMCG and marketing sector. Her journey from management trainee at FrieslandCampina WAMCO in 2003 to Marketing Director illustrates a steady rise through strategic roles. The award also follows her selection for the Africa 2 Class of Black At's 2027 DARE Awards and her service on international judging panels in 2026.
