JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested four people including a Bangladeshi man for hanging the Jalur Gemilang and the Johor flag upside down at a factory at Tebrau Industrial Area, here.
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the suspects comprised two men and two women, aged between 23 and 56, who were arrested at about 2.07pm on Tuesday .
He added that police would be taking action against all those indirectly involved in the offence and not just the person tasked with hanging the flag. "We want to give a clear message to the public that the police will take stern action against those found guilty of the same offence," he said. The case is being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for insulting behaviour.
Comm Ayob also said that members of the public who have information regarding such incidents can directly call the Johor police hotline at 07-2254074.
