Yahaya Bello, the former Kogi State Governor in Nigeria, faces charges of mismanaging ₩110 billion in public funds. He was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday after evading arrest for months with help from his successor Governor Usman Ododo.

Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello is set to appear in court after being detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC ) for allegedly mismanaging ₦110 billion in public funds. Bello, wanted since April 2024 for alleged fraud, evaded arrest multiple times, allegedly with the assistance of his successor, Governor Usman Ododo. The EFCC initially filed 19 charges of money laundering involving ₦80 billion against Bello and three co-defendants.

Charges were later amended to 16, with the total amount allegedly laundered rising to ₦110 billion. The EFCC issued several summonses, but Bello resisted appearing in court. On Tuesday, EFCC officials apprehended Bello at their Abuja headquarters
