“Our democratic freedom not only lies in the government but our efforts too,” House of Zeta said in a short statement.”
21 years after Nigeria became a democratic nation, the House of ZETA is amplifying the voices of young Nigerians on what democracy in Nigeria means to them.
The digital agency spoke with young professionals and celebrities such as Joseph Ike, Folu Storms, Edwin Okolo, Jude Egbas, Ayomide Tayo, Chinedu about what democracy means to them. Others featured in the short video included Kola Tubosun, Tobi Tejumola, Nkem Okorafor and Oreka Godis. To them, democracy means freedom of expression, freedom from the fear of oppression, inclusion, to a total sham. We must celebrate a day that holds meaning to have our fundamental human rights, liberty, and freedom.
Illustrated by Anthony Azekwoh, his art mirrors the hopes and frustrations of these Nigerians in their expression of their democratic right and the reality of democracy in Nigeria. “Our democratic freedom not only lies in the government but our efforts too,” House of Zeta said in a short statement. So today, let’s raise our voices and fight for a democratic government.”
