The United Nations (UN) has called on the international community to help Nigeria to tackle flooding.

Over 200,000 houses damaged,” the tweet reads. “UN in Nigeria and NGO partners are supporting the government with assessments & emergency response. Food and Agriculture Organisation, Nigeria, is responding to priority food security & agricultural livelihood needs in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states and mobilizing resources to support flood-affected households & vulnerable communities.

“Nigeria needs urgent support from developed nations to adapt and mitigate climate change. The United Nations and partners are ready to work jointly with the Government to assess and propose preparedness and anticipatory actions to mitigate future crises from natural hazards, including floods.”Over 600 pple have lost their lives.
