At Agatu, the NAF drilled a borehole with 10 taps. The project took the locals by surprise because they had always suffered from perpetual water scarcity. When the Air Chief presented the project to the community, the traditional ruler was almost in tears. He said that was the first time he was seeing water coming out of a tap.

Second, there was a deliberate effort by the Abubakar-led NAF to re-equip the educational and medical institutions. Also, in the barracks’ empowerment initiatives; the civilians from outside were also brought in to be empowered too. Taking care of the staff welfare was critical, yet in doing that, the ambient communities benefited immensely.

Third, the NAF began to allow women to fly. For the first time in the history of the country, it was made clear that it was no longer about one’s gender, but about what one could offer. Hence, if a woman could do it, let her do it. It got to a stage that, in order to encourage women, the NAF had the opportunity to have an all-female crew in an aircraft. All the pilots, technicians, caterers, and ground staff that guided them on landing, were all women.
