The Chief Executive Officer of The Majaro Sisters Couture, Ajibike Majaro- Ige, speaks with MOBOLA SADIQ on how bagging a first-class degree didn’t stop her dream of becoming a fashion designerI had my elementary education at Sharon-Rose International Nursery and Primary School. For my secondary education, I attended Wetland Comprehensive College .
On our part, I also think attention should be paid to the lack of professionalism and absence of any form of creativity in up-and-coming designers.I consider learning a habit and lifestyle. I upskill myself on a daily basis with online tutorials and courses. An upgrade is paramount in order to stay relevant in the fashion industry. That is one of our key strategies to connect with our target audience.
I have learnt never to embark on any project while depending solely on one’s staff members, except one has in-depth knowledge of the said project. I’m sure any designer can relate well with this. How do you like to dress? I like to dress simply because of the nature of my job and other commitments. I love comfortable tops and jeans.I would say yes and no. Yes, because the economy is growing and Nigerians have evolved and are now attracting more international audiences. However, the cost of running businesses is high. There is no social security for vulnerable citizens who can’t afford to get bank loans for their small-scale business.
