Summer in Alabama is never cool or comfortable, but the next few days will be even less fun than normal.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The big-time heat continues to build each afternoon through at least the middle of next week. Afternoon highs each day will reach into the 95-99 degree range across the southern half of the state. Humidity levels will also start to rise Monday and Tuesday, making it feel even hotter to be outside.
After a hot start to the weekend, skies will remain mostly clear tonight. Winds will be calm and lows will be mild in the 60s and 70s.Sunday features more sunshine and a few clouds. Highs will soar into the upper 90s with a west wind around 5 mph. A stray shower is possible but most will remain dry. Lows will hover in the middle 70s under a clear sky.
Due to the high heat and humidity, heat index values could approach dangerous levels, *if* it does we could see a FIRST ALERT issued Monday and/or Tuesday. Something we will watch closely through the remainder of the weekend and let you know if conditions worsen. Due to the slight uptick in rain coverage expected, highs will lower just a tad… into the lower to middle 90s by late week. The humid factor will be noticeable, so even with the slight cool down, it’s still going to be hot.In fact, Wednesday and Thursday will feature scattered to isolated rain and storms. Highs in the middle to lower 90s with lows in the 70s.
