The federal government says Nigeria generated over $250 million from cashew nuts export in 2022.
The programme, themed, “industrialising the Nigeria cashew sector through inclusive policies”, was held on Tuesday in Abuja.Abubakar said the agro-product has grown in importance as an export-oriented cash crop since the 1990s and have become an important source of non-oil export income. Abubakar said cashew was among the crops being promoted under the value chain programme of the ministry.
“Others were provision of water pumps to cashew farmers, conducting capacity building/training for cashew farmers and having sensitisation exercises.”
