FG considers reducing N-Power internship period

The federal government has said it is considering reducing the two-year internship programme for beneficiaries enrolled under theThe minister of humanitarian affairs, Sadiya Farouq, said this on Tuesday, during a meeting with other ministers in Abuja.

“Part of the reforms and streamlining will see a reduction in tenure from the current 24 months,” she added. “The is intended to reposition N-SIP to cater to vulnerable groups in society by providing them access to shock responsive interventions, life skills & mentorship in order to systematically lift people out of poverty.

The ministers agreed that “emphasis should not be on starting new structures but building on existing ones – from the National Directorate of Employment to Digital Literacy and Skills Acquisition programme as well as the Work Experience Programme of the Ministry of Youth & Sports Development.
