The Nation Newspaper FG committed to promote grassroots cycling, says Enoh
The Minister of Sports Development, Sen. John Owan Enoh has said the federal government is committed to collaborating with corporate organisations to develop grassroots cycling and encourage greater private-sector involvement.
“The invitation by Pitstop community to come and be part of this cycling race and has been very revealing in terms of what is going on in our various communities, all targeted at growing grassroots sports, this is what it is and I think that at the end of the race walking back from the finishing line, the entire group of people close to about 50 people who took part and the crowd watching, everybody felt the excitement and I think that that is what sports brings.
The riders demonstrated grit, strength and resilience, pushing their various bikes to limits, and stamping on their pedals, to deliver a spectacular race. “I’m planning on pushing forward and competing in higher stages and I am planning on winning this competition again because winning is a sweet thing.”
“The opportunity to train is not there, so Pitstop has created this avenue for those who want to take cycling as a profession. We also give the guys opportunities to earn because they are making money.
