Three female students of Lagos schools recently emerged as the winners of the 2022 Endometriosis Support Group Nigeria (ESGN)

Country Manager for Astra Zenica, Mr. Morris Nyarko ; Mother of the Winner, Mrs. Tijani; the Winner, Aisha Tijani; Clinic Manager of Nordica Fertility Centre, Mrs. Tola Ajayi and Managing Director, Nordica Fertility Centre, Dr. Abayomi Ajayi in Lagos…recentlyESGN Senior Secondary Schools Essay Competition was designed to engage girls and adolescents in the topical issue of endometriosis and its effects on women of childbearing age and female sex, generally.

“The need to sensitise teenagers and adolescents in the awareness campaign against endometriosis cannot be overemphasised,” said Obstetrician/Gynaecologist, Dr. Abayomi Ajayi, the brain behind the campaign. “When we started, it was tough, and we thought of how to raise awareness among people who were supposed to start this diagnosis. So, we started with the doctors. And again, we said, it’s better to empower women. So, the essay competition came about for these young girls and we continue to sensitize the older women,” he said.

“The essay made me research and know more about this and other things. I discussed the condition with my classmates, who didn’t even know anything about the condition and they learnt.
