The Federal Character Commission has threatened to sanction ministries, departments or agencies that fail to comply with the principles of federal character in the composition of their personnel.
The commissioner representing Ogun State at the Federal Character Commission, Abuja, Abiodun Akinlade, spoke on Wednesday during a visit to the state office of the commission at Abeokuta.
The state Coordinator, Mr Ademuyiwa Adeniran, while receiving Akinlade into his office, lamented that there was no synergy between the commission and the state government in the area of monitoring compliance with guidelines and formula in the employment and provision of socio-economic amenities. But in his remarks, Akinlade promised to use his closeness to Governor Dapo Abiodun, to ensure a good working relationship with the commission.He said, “The board will ensure equity and fairness in areas of employment opportunities, distribution of socio-economic and infrastructural facilities to address the issue of marginalisation, inbalance and agitations for restructuring by various federating units.
“The commission will not hesitate to sanction any MDAs that fail to comply with the principles of federal character in the composition of their personnel at various levels.”All rights reserved.
