The family of a 33-year-old night guard, Ebuka Osegbo, has petitioned the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, and demanded justice for him.
“After they concluded arrangement to eliminate the deceased, the persons took further steps to acquire firearms, with which they executed the crime they had conceived.”
The elder brother of the deceased, Nonso Osegbo, accused some of the village leaders of killing his brother because he blocked them from gaining access to the site. He said, “The criminals on the fateful day stormed the building site where my late brother was and started demolishing the erected fence. When information reached Ebuka, he rushed to the scene on a bike and while he was asking them why they were demolishing the fence, some of them, who had laid in ambush, opened fire from the bush and killed him instantly.”
The President-General of Umuoji Improvement Union, Mr Silas Onyima, said it was a case of a land dispute.The Divisional Police Officer at Ogidi, Ahmed Sani, who confirmed the incident, said he had transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigations.All rights reserved.
