Following the Ekiti government’s directive on compulsory use of face masks as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19, fashion designers and traders in Ado-Ekiti have capitalised on the high demand for the safety product to make brisk business.
Some of those in the business in separate interviews with NAN described the development as heartwarming and a welcome development. “We hardly see customers coming forward due to the lockdown but with this face mask business, things have improved a bit. James, who decried the incessant raid by security personnel in the efforts to enforce the lockdown directive, said she produces an average of about 30 to 50 units of face masks per day.
“I collected these from a designer on contract basis to sell and in turn make some profit for myself instead of staying at home doing nothing and I have never regretted a bit.
