FA Cup: Solskjaer singles out three Man Utd players for criticism after Wolves defeat
Manchester United interim manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has criticised his side’s attacking play, after Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard struggled in the FA Cup defeat to Wolve on Saturday.
United registered one of their worst displays since Solskjaer took over from Jose Mourinho and after a poor first half, they fell behind following goals from Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota. Rashford struck a late consolation in injury time, but it wasn’t enough to rescue United, who crashed out of the competition at the quarter-final stage. And the Norwegian admits United did not have “enough quality” in their attacking third and was unhappy with the link-up play between his three forward players.“Our possession wasn’t bright enough and quick enough, so it’s disappointing.
“This was a big step backwards, mainly because of the quality of the possession and the passing,” Solskjaer told BBC Sport.
