“Hence, at the operational level, this error will not materialize and almost impossible to detect. The Ministry take full responsibility for this error and we have immediately set in motion the machinery to have the error corrected. But, two financial experts and the People’s Democratic Party weekend, insisted that there are more to the claim by the Commissioner that it was a printing error.According to Mr Emmanuel Ugwu, said the purported errors discovered in the state 2024 budget figures remain an embarrassment to the state government and Governor Aiyedatiwa should not hesitate in suspending the Commissioner for proper investigation if there was a budget padding or it’s actually an error.
“Do you know how many people go through budget? Why is it that it was a media outfit that discovered the so called error. The Commissioner has a lot of question to answer,” Emmanuel said. Also, reacting the spokesperson for the PDP, Kennedy Peretei, said “In an attempt to put wool over the eyes of the people, the Ondo State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget in a statement, claimed that the N5 billion was actually “meant to reflect the expected draw down from the Nigerian For Women Project
“We have no reason to believe that it was an error, the only thing we can believe is that it was a plan, a coordinated plan to swindle the people of Ondo State.
