Calgary police's traffic section is investigating a single-vehicle collision that resulted in the death of a man on Stoney Trail in the city’s northeast last week.

According to police, a 2021 Ford Edge, driven by a 49-year-old man, was travelling south on Stoney Trail Northeast, nearing the McKnight Boulevard overpass. The car drove off the road, went through a grass ditch, and hit an overpass support beam on the west side of Stoney Trail Northeast.Alcohol or drugs are not considered to be factors in this collision, but excessive speed is.
