Academic and administrative activities were on Wednesday paralysed as some ex-students of Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa, Oyo state shut down the main gate leading to the school premises.

They also accused the management of mismanaging the funds meant for the accreditation of the engineering courses of the institution. “We have not heard anything about this issue since our last protest, all our effort to get in touch with the authority concern proved abortive, our problems are yet to be attended to and we are here to show our grievances,” one of the protesters who pleaded anonymity stated.

Chairman, National Association of Nigerian Students , Oyo State chapter, Comrade Olujuwon Asubiojo, said the association was not interested in all the technical excuses by management of the institution.Addressing the protesting students, the Rector of the institution, Mr. Eyitayo Iyiola, said the problem was caused by paucity of fund from the Oyo State government and misinformation from the Faculty of Engineering of the institution.

“Funding and misinformation were the basic cause of this issue. We have met several times and we keep on saying the same thing, the issue we are having relies on finance.
