A 20-year-old ex-convict, Wasiu Tajudeen, was on Monday sentenced to five-year imprisonment by a Lagos Federal High Court sitting for dealing in 200 grams of cannabis sativa, aka marijuana.
Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa handed down the sentence after Tajudeen pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful dealing in the drug. The prosecutor, Mr Lambert Nor, had told the court that the convict was arrested with the banned drug on July 2, 2022, at Abule-Odu Egbeda, Lagos State.
The prosecutor told the court that the offence contravened Section 11 of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap. N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and punishable under the same Act.Related News

2023: Why Sanwo-Olu may have a smooth sailThe governor of Lagos, Nigeria's wealthiest state, is like the president of some countries. Fondly called Eko, the state of aquatic splendour, Lagos stands as the fifth largest economy in Africa and it may be rightly described as the doorway to the heart of Nigeria's commerce. Nigeria's place as Africa's biggest economy is closely tied to the all-important position that Lagos holds in the scheme of things.
