'Everything about it is a tragedy': Justine Damond case goes to jury | KnottMatthew
A 12-person jury has gone into lockdown after a dramatic and intense final day of testimony to decide whether to send to jail the Minnesota police officer who shot dead Australian Justine Ruszczyk Damond.
A photo of Justine Ruszczyk Damond is seen at memorial service for her in Minneapolis in August, 2017.While all murder cases are tragedies, Sweasy said the death of the Australian life coach represented "tragedy compounded on top of tragedy".While Noor had undoubtedly suffered after the shooting, Sweasy said: "This was a traumatic event of his own making.John Ruszczyk , the father of Justine Damond Ruszczyk, accompanied by his wife Marian Hefferen.
Plunkett also said it was reasonable to assume Ruszczyk felt safer approaching police at night than an American would have because she was from Australia, where gun violence is rare. "The most reasonable force in this situation would have been no force at all," Derrick Hacker told the court last week.
