Eight playable characters appear in FF7 Rebirth.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Several playable characters have been spotted in the latest trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The trailer, premiering at the PlayStation State of Play event on September 14, 2023, put much of the game's cast of characters on display while also revealing FF7 Rebirth's release date.
7 Aerith Gainsborough Aerith is back in FF7. She's a kindhearted florist living in the Sector Five slums of Midgar. Aerith first runs into Cloud as he's fleeing from Avalanche's first attack on a Mako Reactor, and is at first the only other character who can see the Whispers, mysterious specters who try to prevent characters from making changes to the canon events of FF7's story. He later helps her escape from the Turks, the security arm of megacorporation Shinra.
5 Tifa Lockhart The final playable character from FF7 Remake, Tifa, will also appear in Rebirth. Tifa grew up with Cloud in Nibelheim. She later moved to the big city of Midgar, taking over as owner and operator of the bar Seventh Heaven. Seventh Heaven doubles as a base of operations for Barret's Avalanche cell, and Tifa sometimes participates in its missions. She cares deeply for Cloud, lending him a hand in his time of need.
3 Yuffie Kisaragi Yuffie didn't appear in the original release of FF7 Remake, but the Intergrade version included a bonus chapter focusing on her undertaking a mission to Midgar. Yuffie is a Materia thief from Wutai, a country that, until just before the start of FF7, was at war with Shinra. In the original game, she's introduced in a random encounter in which she swipes all the party's Materia before scampering off.
