The cleric spoke yesterday at the United Nations headquarters in New York where she co-chaired a high level United Nations roundtable on ‘Turning Swords Into Ploughshares in the Quest to Reduce Violence Globally’.
Rev. Ajayi also appealed to other African countries to stop reprisal attacks on business interests of South Africans, as “two wrongs don’t make a right.”Decrying the level of religious intolerance in Africa, especially in Nigeria, she urged preachers to preach love and peace, stop inciting their members against others, while working with their political leaders to end hatred among citizens
“The quest for peace should start from each of us by putting it in practice in all we do. Africa has all that is needed to be great,” she said, and called on leaders to reduce poverty in the continent, as “a hungry man is always angry.”The international evangelist expressed optimism that Nigeria would soon recover from all its challenges and effectively play the ‘big brother’ role to other African countries.
