Africa Cataract and Eye Foundation in collaboration with Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu and the late Alhaji Oga Momodu Yesufu Free Cataract Surgeries for Agbede, yesterday opened a Surgical Eye Camp.
There will be 200 free cataract operations; 500 free reading glasses; 1,000 free consultation and medications; 200 free school children de-worming and free diabetic screening. This is the first in the series of the Etsako Free Surgical Eye Camp and the second under the auspices of the late Alhaji Oga Momodu Yesufu Free Cataract Surgeries for Agbede Community.
A statement signed by Dr. Bala Yesufu said the “initiative is to free Etsako community from cataract, which is one of the leading causes of blindness in this part of Nigeria.The programme began yesterday at the General Hospitals at Fugar and Agbede communities, Edo State, Nigeria and will continue till February 20. Another holds from February 21 –February 27, 2020.
The Co-coordinator and Medical Director of Africa Cataract and Eye Foundation, Dr. Mejuya Okorodudu, said the “objective is not only to rid Etsako community of cataract and glaucoma but also to create public awareness on the diseases…”
