Nicholas Jackson and youngster Alfie Gilchrist were the other scorers on a night Chelsea boosted their chance of European football next season.The former Manchester City youngster exchanged passes with Jackson before slotting in from 20 yards for the opener, headed in from a rebound for his second, then lobbed Jordan Pickford from 40 yards out for his hattrick on 29 minutes. Jackson netted the fourth with a swivel and volley to put Chelsea fans in dreamland at the interval.
Palmer has now scored 20 goals in his first season at the club and has become the joint-top scorer in the EPL with Erling Haaland.Speaking after the win that puts Chelsea on 47 points from 31 matches and in ninth position, Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea manager, hailed his side’s improvement.
