Manchester City star Aymeric Laporta has mocked Arsenal after the Gunners fell to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday.
The victory put Pep Guardiola’s side on the brink of winning their fifth Premier League title in six years after the Citizens had earlier defeated Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park.
Arsenal needed to beat Brighton at the Emirates Stadium to keep the pressure on Manchester City, but they were far below their best against a rampant Brighton side. The defeat means the Gunners must defeat Nottingham Forest next Saturday and hope for a minor miracle in City’s final three matches. Laporte, who is a fringe member of Pep Guardiola’s squad, knows what it takes to win the title and recognises the significance of Arsenal’s defeat to Brighton. The defender tweeted a gif of former WWE wrestler The Rock with a ‘Mmmmm, I can smell it’ tagline.
The tweet went down very well with City’s fanbase, and supporters know they’re on the cusp of winning their third consecutive league title.
