Former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville, has urged attacking midfielder, Jesse Lingard, to leave Old Trafford for his good.The 28-year-old reunited with former Man United manager David Moyes in January when he was loaned out to the Hammers.

Lingard rediscovered his best form as he scored nine goals and registered five assists in 16 appearances for West Ham last season. The England international, whose current Man United deal expires in 2022, returned to the Red Devils in the summer after his time with West Ham came to an end. Moyes was keen to bring Lingard back to West Ham in the summer transfer window, but Man United reportedly set a £30m asking price for the player, who didn’t make the match-day squad as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side defeated Leeds United 5-1 in the Premier League on Saturday.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ The Overlap fan debate, Neville said Lingard should leave United after “what he experienced last season.”“He’s the man there and he will come back here and play 15 games, and be a good squad player, but he doesn’t want that again surely after what he experienced last season.
