Tottenham Hotspur manager, Antonio Conte, has said he “hates” any team trying to intimidate referees and warned Arsenal players and coaches to respect the officials when both sides face each other on Sunday.Arsenal players protested decisions in the 0-0 Premier League draw against Newcastle and the 3-0 win at Oxford in the FA Cup on Monday.
Manager Mikel Arteta escaped a personal charge but was criticized by pundits for his reaction to the denial of a penalty claim in stoppage time against Newcastle. Arteta yelled at fourth official Stuart Atwell and clashed with Magpies boss Eddie Howe on the touchline. When asked whether he had concerns over Arsenal attempting to intimidate officials, Conte told a news conference on Friday: “You have to show respect in every situation and especially also with the referee because I know very well the difficulty to be a referee, to take decisions.
“I think to intimidate [the referee] or to create a bad atmosphere is not fair. I don’t like this. I hate the people that try to do it.”
