EPL: Aubameyang ‘freezes’ contract talks with Arsenal, waits for Barcelona
Arsenal captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has frozen contract talks with the club, according to the Sport.
The Gunners are now facing a nervous wait to see if they have successfully persuaded the Gabon striker to stay at the club.Arsenal may decide to sell the former Borussia Dortmund man this summer, rather than lose him for nothing in 2021. Negotiations looked to be going well recently, as Aubameyang seemed more likely to sign an extension.
However, the forward is delaying his decision on a new contract as he is waiting for Barcelona to make their move.The 31-year-old would be available for a cut-price fee this summer if Arsenal were forced into a sale. This appeals to Barca, who are operating on a strict budget following the COVID-19 outbreak.
The LaLiga giants are looking for a replacement for Luis Suarez, 33, but their primary target is Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez.
