He further revealed that no one in his family knew he was into the trade because “it is not a proud profession.”The female gender and sexual exploitation have long been associated together, just as prostitution is often synonymous with women. Also, a 2008 report by Daily Mail stressed that several white women, usually in their 50s and 60s, who had lost hope of being approached by good-looking men, resorted to sex tourism in order to fulfil their sexual fantasies and sometimes their search for revitalised love.
A confession by an Abuja-based male prostitute, Ifeanyi, in 2012 also made news when he told an astonished crowd in the Upper Area Court of Mararaba, Nassarawa State, how he plied this trade in the suburb of Wuse Zone 4 and Jabi in the Federal Capital Territory, standing along the road with other female prostitutes waiting for customers.
“This type of sexual intercourse is associated with a greater risk of contracting HIV and other sexually transmitted infections because of compromised power relations and the likelihood of having multiple partners,” the report added.
