”The grouse of the Indegenous Peoples of Biafra against Sen Ike Ekweremadu is his unalloyed loyalty to the Nigerian state, without any iota of succumbing to a poorly thought-through Biafra separatist agenda.
Also, some IPoB activists boasted that they tore Ekweremadu’s Igbo attire because of the coat of arm design on it. Ironically, those IPoB miscreants, still clench their Nigerian International Passport with the coat of arms boldly engraved on the cover. Hypocrisy! Nevertheless, whereas Justice Binta Nyako ruled that Kanu must not hold rallies or grant interviews or be seen in a crowd of more than 10 persons or grant press interview, Kanu willfully scorned and repeatedly breached the bail conditions. He addressed mega rallies, partook in heavy street processions, granted press interviews. And in all these, he used incendiary language against the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the president, and other ethnic groups.
Thus, while both men, like most Igbo agree on the presence of marginalisation of the Igbo, IPOB and other pro-Biafra groups on one hand as well as Ekweremadu and Ohanaeze Ndigbo on the other hand, differ dramatically in approach. While Kanu is an brash irredentist and separatist, Ekweremadu has relentlessly advocated a Nigeria driven by the principles of true federalism as agreed by the founding fathers before independence.
