Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji attributed the successful implementation of the new minimum wage to President Bola Tinubu's reforms. Workers expressed their gratitude to both leaders for the timely payment of their salaries.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State on Tuesday urged workers to appreciate God and President Bola Tinubu for the new minimum wage increment. Oyebanji said Tinubu's reforms led to an increase in state allocations, which has been reflected in the wages of workers. He made this statement when some civil servants visited his office in Ado-Ekiti to express their gratitude for the payment of the new minimum wage , as reflected in their December salary.
The governor said: ‘But for the President’s reforms, which gave more money to states, a number of state governments would not have been able to pay the minimum wage. Honestly, I don’t think you should thank me. We have not done anything unusual. You worked hard and got paid by the government. ‘But I thank you also for showing appreciation. Thank God, and thank President Bola Tinubu also. I’m saying this because what you are seeing today are the outcomes of the reforms he embarked on.’ Earlier, the workers, led to the governor’s office by some permanent secretaries, expressed their appreciation to the governor for fulfilling his promise to ensure they received a fair deal in the minimum wage payment. The permanent secretaries also commended Oyebanji for including them in the wage increase, acknowledging his commitment to ensuring that every category of workers benefits from the new minimum wage
