Gboyega Aribisogan has been elected as the new speaker of the Ekiti state house of assembly.

He replaces Funminiyi Afuye, the previous speaker, who died in October after he reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest.He was a former commissioner of the state ministry of information and two-time member of the state assembly.

Afuye was buried in Ikere-Ekiti on Friday.
