Eight suspended members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have dragged the speaker, Bilyaminu Moriki, the state attorney-general and commissioner for justice, Abdulaziz Sani , to court over the breach of their constitutional rights to liberty, dignity of human person and fair hearing.
The counsel to the lawmakers, Ibrahim Alli, said his clients alleged that the embattled speaker in connection with the police, DSS, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps , have embarked on an attempt to arrest and prosecute them on grounds that 17 members of the State Assembly had sat on February 22, 2024, for a plenary session, and for breaking into the Zamfara State House of Assembly.
