The authorities of the Obong of Calabar Palace have cautioned groups and individuals against causing further controversies around the throne.

A statement signed by the chairman of Obong of Calabar Executive Forum, OCEF, Chief Gershom E. Henshaw and Dr Maurice Ekpenyong as Secretary, warned that OCEF will not allow personal or selfish interests to prevail over custom. According to the statement: “As law abiding [institution], we have always complied with all judgements, particularly the one of January 13, 2023, which resulted in the re-emergence of Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V as the Obong of Calabar.
