The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a warning to Nigerians, urging them to verify the identities of individuals claiming to be EFCC officers, especially during nighttime visits. The commission's spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, emphasized that many individuals impersonate EFCC officials to discredit the agency and engage in criminal activities. He urged the public, particularly the youth, to thoroughly question the credentials of anyone claiming to be from the EFCC and to contact the commission directly for verification.

The Economic and Financial Crime s Commission has urged Nigerians to always ensure they verify identity of supposed officers breaking into their homes, especially at night.

Oyewale said, “Its a carrot and stick thing, we have our own way of dealing with that and don't forget that it is not all of these cases where you have people breaking in and you know. Most times, they are not EFCC officers. In the video seen by Politics Nigeria, the EFCC’s spokesperson said most people are impersonating the commission's officers with the aim of discrediting the anti-graft agency.
