Edo State is projected to register only 20% of its target children (0-5 years) in the nationwide electronic birth registration program due to insufficient support from the previous government.

About 80 percent of children between zero and 5 years in Edo State may not be registered in the ongoing nationwide electronic birth registration because the immediate past government failed to give the needed support for the success of the programme in the state. DAILY POST reports that the Nigeria n Population Commission in partnership with the United Nations Children's Fund, UNICEF , targeted to register 167,356 children in Edo state in 2024.

It was gathered that with few days to December 31, 2024, which is the scheduled day to end the programme nationwide less than 20 percent of children between the ages of zero and 5 would not be captured for registration. The exercise which started on July 29, 2024, shows that only about 33,474 children representing about 20 percent have been registered while about 133,882 others may not be registered in the state. Even at that, the man has not settled down to give us attention. “I was in Edo to set a template to rip off the proces
