A non-governmental organisation, Yiaga Africa, on Wednesday, disclosed that it would deploy 500 polling unit observers to monitor the conduct of the September 19 governorship election in Edo State.
Speaking at a media roundtable in Benin City, Programmes Manager, Election, Yiaga Africa, Mr Paul James, said the NGO had trained 500 personnel to be sent to the 2,627 polling units in the state under aHe also said 24 supervisors would be drafted to the 18 local government as observers while one person is to be in charge of the state.will deploy observers in pairs to a representative random sample of 250 polling units in every LGA.
Also speaking, the Director of Programmes, Yiaga Africa, Cynthia Mbamalu, said one of the core objectives of the NGO was to ensure peaceful conduct of the election in the state.All rights reserved.
