Six aspirants jostling for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State on Wednesday submitted their expression of interest and nomination forms.
Records from the office of the party’s National Organising Secretary, Emma Ibidiro, showed that as of 4.55 pm on Wednesday, Pastor Osazie Ize-Iyamu, Osaro Obazee, Governor Godwin Obaseki, Pius E. Odubu, Iduoriyekemwen, and Chris Ogiemwonyi have submitted their forms.reports that Wednesday, June 3rd, 2020, is the last day for the submission of forms while June 10th and 11th 2020, is the day set aside for the screening of aspirants preparatory to the party primaries on June 22.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after submitting his forms, Chris Ogiemwonyi told reporters that he was fully in support of the direct primaries because he had suffered injustice on account of the indirect mode adopted for the election which threw up Obaseki as the party’s standard-bearer in 2016.
