The Edo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has advised motorists to ignore passengers who often instigate them to overspeed with the excuse of being in haste. DAILY POST reports that the FRSC State Sector Commander, Paul Okpe, said that such passengers also contribute to road crashes and should be ignored.
Okpe gave the advice during a road show as part of activities to sensitise road users to the need to be safety-conscious on the road. The sector commander urged motorists and other road users to obey traffic rules and regulations to stay alive during the Easter celebration. While noting that the sensitisation was necessary due to the attitude of drivers in the state, he added that one has to be alive to celebrate.
'While on the road, you have to obey traffic rules by wearing a seatbelt, avoiding overloading and speeding, dangerous driving and route violations, among others. You can celebrate with your family while alive. 'I urged motorists to drive at minimal speed and respect other road users, as it is those that are alive that will celebrate the season,' he said. According to him, the corps would deploy men and officers across the state to ensure a hitch-free celebration.
