A 27-year-old driver, Nureni Olawale, with a new generation bank, who allegedly damaged a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon worth N26,700,000, was yesterday arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court.The defendant is facing a five-count charge bordering on reckless and dangerous driving, injury, damage and obstruction preferred against him by the Police.
Solomon told the court that Olawale, who was driving a Prado Jeep with number plates BDG 881 AC, drove same recklessly and dangerously in the public highway. According to him, the defendant damaged one Mercedes Benz G-Wagon G65, 2014 model with number plates ARK 10 DC, worth N26,608,301, property of the complainant, Richard Alabi.
The offence committed is punishable under Sections 19, , 27 schedule 1, 29 and 45 of the Road Traffic Law of Lagos State, 2012.The defendant’s lawyer U. N. Ezeokeke, urged the court to grant the defendant bail in liberal terms.
