Some of the victims who spoke with our correspondent claimed that they were not notified before the bulldozers came to pull down their shelter, adding that no official had spoken to them about plans to relocate them to other places. Also, from Gowza, A 50-year-old woman, Hanatu Musa, accused the task force officials of denying her access to pack her belongings despite pleading with them. She lamented that she and her family had experienced tough times since they fled their community nine years ago due to insurgency, adding that they didn’t deserve the cruel fate that had befallen them.She said, “The demolition happened when we were feeling at home here.
For Aisha Adamu, the demolition has brought more hardship to her. Before the incident, she said that her husband had been diagnosed with a kidney problem and she does menial jobs to fend for the family. Halilu, who disclosed that his structure was also demolished, said they relied on gifts from NGOs and individuals to survive.
