The outgoing Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki said he would not want to be remembered for the many battles he fought after leaving office but for his numerous achievements in repositioning the state.

DAILY POST reports that the governor made the remarks while answering questions from newsmen after the commissioning of the Airport Road Parks and Garden in Benin City. Obaseki , in answering a question on how he would want to be remembered after eight years as governor, simply replied, 'Certainly not for the fights'. Obaseki had in the past years in office fought several political battles with his political benefactors and opponents.

The response from our people is quite commendable, and no wonder people came out and voted for us the way they did. 'I can’t be tired of saying thank you for the opportunity to serve. 'I believe in first doing the work before celebrating. We will try to commission as much as we can, but I don’t think we will be commissioning as much as 10 per cent of what we have done, and that is why the people came out and voted for us.
