Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has charged Correctional Service officers to care for inmates in the correctional facilities.
Governor Otti gave the charge while receiving in audience a delegation of the newly posted Comptroller of Correctional Services, Abia State Command, Ogbeifun Josephine Ighiwiyisi, who called on him at the Government House, Umuahia. The Governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Calab Ajagba said the inmates should not be dehumanized as they were still human beings irrespective of their circumstances, adding that they could be be corrected to become better citizens.
'Irrespective of what might have taken them there, they are still human beings', said Otti He said he was committed to making sure that every Abian was taken care of and appreciated the Abia State Command of the Correctional Services for the good works they were doing. He promised to continue to support the facility and indeed various Federal agencies in the state as much as funds may be available and encouraged them to always make judicious use of the resources available to them.
