The Kwara State monarch, the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye, has said that his name was wrongly associated with what he described as political mudsling and intrigues in the leaked audio conversation between the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi and the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo. Obi had in a leaked phone conversation before the February 25 Presidential election begged Oyedepo to help him secure the support of Christians in the South-West region of Nigeria and Kwara State.

In the leaked audio which went viral on the internet and has since generated mixed reactions from Nigerians, Obi told Oyedepo that “East is okay, Middle Belt is okay, but places like Kogi, Kwara and Niger are worrisome.” The monarch in a statement signed on his behalf by his Principal Private Secretary, Olayinka Kadri, said, “Our attention has been drawn to a leaked audio conversation between the Labour Party Presidential Candidate His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi, and the General Overseer of Living Faith Church Bishop David Oyedepo which is making the rounds on the internet, and the insinuations from the so-called “exclusive” tape where the name of our royal father was mentioned and wrongly associated with the...
