Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has begged the World Bank not to withdraw its support for flood control in Ibadan.DAILY POST recalls that Ibadan Urban Flood Management Project , a world bank funded initiative, started during the administration of the immediate past Governor, late Abiola Ajimobi.

Our correspondent gathered that the World Bank had earlier vowed to withdraw its support for the flood control project in some parts of Ibadan. The World Bank in a statement signed by Mr. Shubham Chaudhuri, Country Director, Nigeria, Western and Central Africa Region, vowed to withdraw its support.Makinde in a statement made available to DAILY POST through his Chief Press Secretary, Taiwo Adisa, said his government remained committed to the project.Makinde while speaking further, noted that work is ongoing in some of the projects.
