Viewers will soon need to create and pay for their own account to continue enjoying their favourite films and shows

From next week, thousands of Disney+ members will face a price increase as a popular deal comes to an end. The streamer's 'Epic Movies, Epic Offer' promotion launched on February 29, offering TV and movie fans a discounted membership of £1.99 per month.

While an exact date for this change hasn't been announced, Disney has confirmed it will be implemented in several countries this June, with a full rollout expected in September. Luckily, there are several ways to bag a free or discounted subscription to Disney+ and other streaming platforms like Netflix or Amazon's Prime Video with promotions from retailers and tech brands.

Those who opt for the premium plan also get more for their money, as it includes higher video quality up to 4K UHD and HDR, plus the ability to stream on four devices simultaneously. This is compared to 1080p Full HD and two streams on the standard with ads and standard plans, while both the standard and premium plans include downloads so you can save your favourite films and shows to watch offline.

Virgin Media is giving away Disney+ and an LG smart TV Virgin Media members can claim Disney+ free for six months when signing up to the provider’s packed Mega Volt bundle, which comes with a free 43” LG UHD smart TV or £250 bill credit if signing up by May 27. Although a pricey option at £84.

It usually costs £31 a month, but customers can try it free for 31 days by signing up before 11.59pm on Thursday, May 23, or sign up for 18 months at £28 a month. Sky Stream gives access to the biggest releases from premium channels like Sky Atlantic – including the upcoming second season of House of the Dragon – and blockbuster Netflix shows like Bridgerton and Baby Reindeer at no extra cost.
